OKLAHOMA CITY — Police officers shot and killed a man Monday afternoon after he had killed his wife and led police on a three-mile chase, authorities say.
Oklahoma City police said they were called to the scene of a domestic shooting in the 12000 block of Stonecrest Lane in northwest Oklahoma City around 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
Officials said Quentin Broadus was having an altercation with his wife, Caleea Broadus, when he shot and killed her. Quentin Broadus then fled the home in a car, officers said.
Oklahoma City police officers located and pursued Broadus, traveling about three miles through through northwest Oklahoma City before the pursuit came to an end near NW 120 Court and Warwick Drive.
There, Broadus exited the vehicle while it was still moving and pointed a gun at officers.
Six officers fired their weapons, striking Broadus. The shooting was broadcast live by at least two Oklahoma City TV stations that were following the chase via helicopters.
Broadus was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police Sgt. Chad Pickle, Sgt. Robert Allen, Sgt. Joshua Thee and officers Clifford Beloncik, Aaron Richards and Simeon Alibrando have all been placed on paid administrative leave.
Caleea Broadus worked for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after she was discharged as a sergeant from the U.S. Army.
She worked at Oklahoma City Community Corrections Center.
“Cpl. Broadus had a bright future in corrections,” said Corrections Interim Director Scott Crow. “After less than a year with our agency, she had already promoted from correctional officer to corporal. She was a dedicated, loyal team member to her coworkers. Whenever the facility needed someone to pick up a shift, she would volunteer – no matter the time or day.”
