NEW YORK — A robbery suspect was shot and killed by an off-duty corrections officer in a confrontation Saturday night.
ABC-7 reports the suspect approached a group of men standing near their motorcycles and pointed a gun at them — demanding they hand over their keys. The off-duty officer then opened fire — striking the suspect in the head.
After police arrived, the suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
The corrections officer, whose name has not been released, works for the New York State Department of Corrections.
The suspect has also not yet been named. The investigation is ongoing.
