CARNEY’S POINT — Two area corrections officers died Saturday night after the motorcycles they were riding struck a vehicle on Route 40, police said Sunday.

Derrick Sulton, 42, of Bridgeton, and George Jackson II, 31, of Pittsgrove Township, were both pronounced dead at the scene following the 7:50 p.m. crash, according to police. Both were corrections officers at South Woods State prison.

A third motorcyclist who was traveling with the two was injured during the accident and was taken to Christiana hospital in Delaware for unspecified injuries. Fahr said he was unsure if the third motorcyclist, identified as William Robinson of Bridgeton, also was a corrections officer. Robinson avoided Santiago’s vehicle but slid off the road.
