ATTICA, NY — The union representing Attica corrections officers says three of their members were attacked Wednesday by an inmate with a violent history.

The NYS Correctional Officers and PBA says inmate Donald Adams was being taken by the officers from his cell to the prison ER when he started kicking, biting and spitting. Two of the officers were bitten by Adams, one bad enough to require hospital treatment.

The union says Adams has attacked corrections officers before. In November, they say, he broke a sergeant’s elbow and bit a correction officer’s arm during a premeditated assault at Groveland Correctional Facility. The inmate admitted to having planned the attack the day before.
