FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Four COs at a Indiana jail were taken to a hospital after being sickened by suspected drug fumes emanating from a toilet.

Emergency crews responded to the Allen County Jail Tuesday after the officers were sickened by the fumes, the Associated Press reports. The four officers were taken to a hospital, where they were considered to be in “stable” condition, according to WANE.

Police said two of the officers were doing a cell search and began to feel light-headed and dizzy after removing a towel draped over a drained toilet. A plume of smoke came out of the toilet, and two other responding officers were also sickened.

An inmate who was in the cell that was being searched was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Steve Stone, Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said officials are working to determine was the material was.

The jail had a similar incident occur in November, when 11 jail employees had to be treated with Narcan after being exposed to smoke containing fentanyl. Allen County Sheriff David Gladieux said a total of 32 COs, a nurse and a K-9 handler had to be treated at a hospital.
