SOMERS, Conn. — Operations have returned to normal in all but one section of Northern Correctional Institution, where three separate attacks on prison guards occurred last week, a state Department of Correction spokesman said Monday.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for a union that represents correction officers called for prison safety improvements following Friday’s attacks.
“We would agree that the events are unrelated, but, taken together, it is very troubling and requires fast action,” said Larry Dorman, a spokesman for Council 4, AFSCME, which represents 35,000 workers throughout the state, including 4,800 employees of the state Department of Correction.
