CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. — Corrections Officer Desi Arnez Patterson died in route to work a the Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent, Alabama, in an accident.
“Our hearts are very heavy,” said Corrections Commissioner Kim Thomas, according to ABC News. “We lost a veteran correctional officer, but more importantly, a caring husband and father.
“Officer Desi Patterson left his home in hazardous conditions to protect and serve our state. His sense of duty is indicative of all DOC employees, and it greatly saddens me to see such professionalism rewarded with loss.”
Details on the accident were not forthcoming.
