WESTON — Months after an attack at the Marathon County Jail, little is known about the corrections officer injured, but co-workers who know her will host a benefit in her honor Aug. 3.
The benefit for injured corrections officer Julie Christensen will take place at Dale’s Weston Lanes and feature a bike/walk/run event on the Mountain-Bay Trail.
Fellow corrections officer Wendy McCarthy organized the event. She said Christensen is home from the hospital and “has a long road to recovery ahead of her.” Christensen was injured in a March 27 beating at the Marathon County Jail. Fredrick Morris, 20, of Wausau, is facing felony battery charges in connection with the incident.
