SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County detention officer shot a man in the torso after he said the man charged at him in the officer’s own front yard in the 200 block of East Gerald, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident happened after Deputy Jose Carillo came home from an extra duty shift around 10 p.m. Tuesday. He received multiple calls from individuals alerting him that the suspect, Jacob Rodriguez, was on his way to the home.
Carillo called 9-1-1 to alert police.
He had changed clothes but still had his weapon. Rodriguez arrived at the home and started screaming, then jumped the fence, according to the sheriff’s office.
