BROOKLYN — Two off-duty corrections officers were killed when one lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a police officer’s vehicle early Sunday.
Tiffany Underwood and Africaque Smith were pulled from their mangled SUV and rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where they died on arrival according to NY Daily News. It’s too early to determine if the corrections officers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but investigators were photographed looking at a can of Four Loko at the scene.
“An untimely death is always a tragedy and often feels more so during the holiday season,” said Dora Schriro, commissioner of the city’s Department of Corrections.
The officer involved in the crash was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
