TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Leon County corrections officer is recovering after an inmate attacked him.

Officials told WCTV that David Vickers became upset about his lunch options Saturday morning when he attacked CO Kenneth Meade.

Vickers refused Meade’s commands to go to lockdown and took a fighting stance before Meade pepper sprayed him, WTXL reported. When Vickers was pepper sprayed that’s when he attacked Meade, leaving him with four facial fractures. Another inmate helped Meade detain Vickers, officials said.

Meade is currently on medical leave and recovering at home. Vickers received an additional charge of aggravated battery on an officer.
