Fla. inmate attacks CO, strikes face and head

Inmate asked CO if he was carrying a taser, attacked when he was told ‘no’

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — On December 18, 2013, Leon County Sheriff’s Correctional Officer Kenneth Lane was attacked by an inmate inside the Leon County Jail. Lane, a three year veteran with LCSO, was interacting with inmate Christopher J. Simpson.

During their interaction, Simpson asked Lane if he was carrying a taser. When Lane told Simpson “No,” the inmate attacked him striking him in the face and head several times.

Another inmate was in the area and witnessed Simpson attack Lane. The other inmate immediately responded to assist Lane and was able to pull Simpson off of Lane as additional Correctional Officers were arriving to secure him.
