BRISTOL TWP., Pa. — A former Pennsylvania inmate has been arrested for making nearly 1,000 calls to female staff at state and county prisons to threaten and harass them.

Bucks County Courier Times reports that Carl Gaither, who spent time at the three facilities he targeted, made the calls to specific women he seemed to be familiar with. He would either ask for the women by name or call their extensions.

The calls, which took place between November 2014 and as recently as April 1, were described as sexually explicit and unwanted. Many of them focused on the women’s feet. One woman said he described himself as “John the foot guy.”

Gaither was eventually arrested after making phone calls to his ex-girlfriend; she contacted his parole officer and he was arrested on a parole violation.

Gaither served time for burglary and related charges between February 25 and March 3 in the Bucks County Prison. When he was released on bail, he made 278 harassing and sexually explicit calls to 13 female prison employees, including nine correctional officers.

He was arraigned Friday and sent back to Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $75,000 bail.
