PATERSON — A reputed member of the Bloods gang who was arrested on drug distribution and weapons charges broke a corrections officer’s hand during an altercation Wednesday evening at the Passaic County Jail, authorities said Thursday.

Jahvon Parker, 23, of Paterson, threatened a corrections officer and attempted to assault him while he was being processed, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said in a statement.

The suspect resisted when the officer attempted to subdue him, Berdnik said. He eventually was subdued with pepper spray. Berdnik said criminal charges would be filed against Parker for the confrontation at the jail, but didn’t specify the charges.
