TRENTON — The bullet that struck Mercer County Corrections Officer Carl Batie last November at Baldassari Regency was actually intended for gang member and accused killer Curtis Brittingham, law enforcement sources have revealed.
Police believe Brittingham was on the balcony of the Chambersburg banquet hall in the early morning of Nov. 11. when it was sprayed with more than 20 rounds fired from the street, according to three law enforcement sources with knowledge of the Batie homicide investigation.
Batie and about 30 other people were on the deck as well, and gunfire intended for Brittingham missed him and killed Batie instead, they said.
