MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Authorities say a recently convicted burglar became upset when he wasn’t given another inmate’s “chow tray” at the Henry County jail and kicked a door, which in turn struck a guard in the forehead.

Clifford Scott Woodard, 32, is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony carrying a standard 18-month prison term.

The incident took place on April 10, when an inmate who was being released from the jail told corrections officers he did not want to eat before leaving. Woodard repeatedly asked for the man’s meal plate, court documents allege, and then kicked the door, leaving his alleged victim with a “skin tear and knot to the forehead.”
