MACON COUNTY, Ill. — A corrections officer with the Macon County Sheriff’s Department was killed in an accident Saturday night.
According to WICS, Michael Gordon, 58, was driving when he lost control on icy roads. He was off duty at the time of the crash and accompanied by his wife, who survived.
Gordon is a veteran of 25 years, having started his career with Macon County in 1989. Sheriff Tom Schneider said Gordon’s “pleasant demeanour, compassionate personality and respect for his fellow man will be greatly missed.”
