FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A confinement officer with the Allen County Jail is in serious condition after being jumped and beaten by an inmate.
According to Sheriff Ken Fries, the confinement officer was working the H-block, which is reserved for violent offenders. He was in the day area with an inmate, which is not unusual, when the inmate jumped and beat him.
No other inmates were involved and officers were able to subdue the attacking inmate.
