BUCKEYE, Ariz. — Prison officials said an inmate assaulted an employee, forcing a lockdown at the Lewis Complex of the Arizona State Prison in Buckeye on Friday morning.
The inmate is reported to have struck the worker several times in the head and body before corrections officers fired two non-lethal rounds to subdue him, according to an Arizona Department of Corrections news release.
The inmate has been identified as Antonio Salley, 36, who is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and armed robbery.
