MORRIS COUNTY -- A Dover man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to threatening a Morris County correctional officer while he was incarcerated.
“Corrections Officers perform a thankless job and are the backbone of the criminal justice system,” Morris County Acting Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said.

“Any threat of violence to a Corrections Officer, or to any other law enforcement officer, must be dealt with immediately and with all available resources to ensure deterrence.”

Christian Rivera, 28, is accused of making third-degree terroristic threats when he allegedly made a violent threat against the officer while he was lodged at the facility in October 2012. He was initially jailed after being indicted on three counts of first-degree robbery.
