GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Willie Lee Wilson Williams, a 21-year-old Kent County Jail inmate who allegedly attacked a female corrections officer in apparent escape attempt in September, today was found competent to stand trial.
Williams is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault of a prison employee and escape from a jail through violence.
Williams on Sept. 14 hid behind a pillar near his cell after retrieving a roll of toilet paper, instead of going back into the cell. He was not discovered until guard Jaclynn Rodriguez spotted him, but he managed to chase her down and attack her.
