Kan. inmate accused of attacking deputy with food tray

Refused to comply with orders fro deputy, instead attacked with juice and food tray

WITCHITA, Kan. — An inmate who allegedly attacked a deputy with a food tray is facing aggravated battery charges.

The dispute arose in a Sedgwick County jail with the inmate, 19, grabbed an extra tray from the meal line Monday night, according to KWCH 12 Eyewitness News. A deputy asked him to put it back and then to return to his cell. The inmate refused to comply, instead throwing his juice in the deputy’s face.

Following that, the inmate then began to hit the deputy with the food tray. Other deputies intervened and handcuffed the inmate. The deputy who was attacked was treated for minor wounds but is expected to be okay.
