SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Authorities say the Pennsylvania man killed in a weekend collision on a northern New Jersey highway was a corrections officer who was on his way to work when the crash occurred.

State police say 50-year-old Raymond McAdams of Easton died of head injuries after his car was rear-ended Sunday on Route 78 in Union County and crashed into a snowbank. McAdams was a senior officer who had worked at Northern State Prison in Newark for 25 years.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

Authorities say roads in the area were very icy when the crash occurred around 2 p.m. near milepost 48 in Springfield. The driver of the other car suffered a minor back injury in the crash.
