ALBION, NY — A corrections officer at the Orleans Correctional Facility sustained back injuries and a laceration on his arm due to a struggle with an inmate this past weekend.

According to the Journal-Register, an inmate rushed onto the podium of a dorm that houses 60 inmates and placed the officer in a headlock. The inmate began screamin, “They are ater me, I’m going to kill you!”

Despite attempts made by the inmate to grab the officer’s phone, the officer managed to call for backup. The inmate continued declaring “I’m God, I will kill everyone!” until responding officers were able to place him in restraints, according to the Journal.

“This is another incident involving an inmate that should be housed in a maximum-security prison who is housed in a medium-security prison assaulting an officer,” said Mike Dildine, Wester Region Vice President for the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association.
