HARTFORD, CT — Three Hartford men were arrested after being accused of shooting into the car of an off-duty Department of Corrections officer Thursday night.
Just before 11 p.m., the Hartford Police Department Shot Spotter alerted them to a shooting that took place at the intersection of Wethersfield Avenue and Wyllys Street. Police said they also received a 911 call from the off-duty corrections officer, identified as Angel Ortolaza, who said he was following a vehicle with three men in it after they opened fire at him.
Ortolaza said he was stopped at a red light at that intersection when the vehicle pulled up next to him. He said the three men in the vehicle had an “aggressive conversation” with him, and at that point one of the men in the vehicle pulled out the gun and fired several shots into Ortolaza’s vehicle and fled.
