TURBEVILLE, S.C. — New details reveal that a corrections officer was tossed into a cell by inmates during an altercation at a South Carolina prison that left 1 inmate dead and eight others injured.
WIS-TV reports that during the deadly Dec. 31 incident, inmates put a CO into a cell and left them there until his colleagues came and freed him. The altercation, which was limited to one housing unit, resulted in eight people injured and one inmate, Allen Jerome Capers, dead.
The injured were taken to a hospital to be evaluated. Four of them remain hospitalized.
No further details have been released.
