INDIANA, Pa. — State police say an inmate at a western Pennsylvania state prison for juvenile and younger offenders will be charged with attacking a guard.
Troopers from the Indiana, Pa. barracks say the 20-year-old inmate, whom they’ve yet to name publicly, punched the guard in the head Sunday evening at the State Correctional Institution-Pine Grove. The maximum security prison is located about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Police say the guard suffered only minor injuries in the incident which occurred about 6:45 p.m.
Police plan to charge the inmate with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Investigators say the inmate attacked the guard after the inmate refused to return to his cell.
