FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. — A deputy was attacked when she tried to break up a fight between inmates at the jail here Thursday morning, police said.

Samantha Bull, who was being held on various charges, hit the deputy and then continued to resist deputies by hitting and pulling hair, according to charges filed Monday in the case. Bull now faces two charges of felony assault and one of resisting arrest.

Bail in the new case was set at $75,000.

The deputy was attacked about 1:30 a.m. after hearing a disturbance in the women’s section of the Adult Detention Center at the Franklin County Jail, authorities said. A female deputy went to stop a fight between inmates and was hit in the face.

Bull, 31, of St. Clair, Mo.,was at the jail on burglary, unlawful use of weapon and resisting arrest charges.

The jail is a maximum-security facility guarded by 32 deputies and five support staffers, according to the county.
