MEDINA, NY — State officials are looking into the apparent poisoning attempt of a local prison guard last week at the Orleans Correctional Facility.
The corrections officer reportedly took a sip from a store-bought drink that he had been drinking throughout the day when he immediately noticed burning in his throat and became violently ill.
The officer was rushed to Medina Memorial Hospital and then later transferred to Buffalo General were he was treated for two days.
