MARION COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon prison guards have filed four more lawsuits against inmates accused of punching, stabbing or spitting on them with HIV-infected blood.
The lawsuits were filed last month in Marion County Circuit Court by three corrections officers who work at the Oregon State Correctional Institution or Oregon State Penitentiary. Each lawsuit asks for $20,000.
The Statesman Journal reports the lawsuits are organized the Association of Oregon Correction Employees to hold inmates more accountable. The first such lawsuit was filed in January.
