BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A couple has pleaded guilty to filling baseballs with contraband items and throwing them over the fence at FCI Jesup.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the baseballs were filled with marijuana, tobacco and a cell phone.

Antonio Marcellus Jones pleaded guilty to a felony charge of providing marijuana to an inmate and faces up to three years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years on probation, Chrystaline Armstrong pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of providing a cell phone to an inmate, and faces up to a year in prison, a fine and a year on probation.

Bureau of Prisons officers discovered the balls during their routine morning sweep of the grounds and picked them up. One officer noticed a vehicle parked on a berm overlooking the fence. Jones, Armstrong and another unnamed person were taken into custody.

The contents of the baseballs were intended for inmate Christopher Green, who is serving a life sentence on drug charges.

Jones said he hadn’t seen Green in 18 years, “but he still considered him like a brother.”
