LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Inmate Michael Pearson, who was caught with both a cell phone and marijuana in his cell, was arraigned Wednesday at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
My News 3 reports that Pearson had the cell phone from July 2012 until last August, when he was caught. He’s currently serving time for felony armed robbery.
He was allegedly helped by someone on the inside; the phone was registered to Kenneth Bothuel, who said he met up with a corrections officer at a community college. The CO then snuck the cell phone into the prison.
Another CO says he received a note from another inmate, tipping him off to the contraband.
Bothuel told authorities that he had met the inmate on a prison pen pal website, and that the two had been in a romantic relationship for several years.
