Funding For Surveillance Equipment - Fast And Easy

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP), last week announced the availability of $566 Million in funding for U.S. first responders. Referred to as the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP), this funding initiative includes $397 Million specifically earmarked for equipment - 80% of which must be provided to local jurisdictions.

Your state’s homeland security governing agency (SAA) is already aware of the amount that the ODP has allocated for your state. Requests, detailing equipment needs and designated jurisdictions, must be submitted by the state no later than April 22.

The SHSGP has identified surveillance equipment as playing a key role in “enhancing the physical security of critical infrastructure” and “improving jurisdictional capabilities to deter and prevent terrorist incidents.” And, formal and informal feedback from law enforcement professionals indicates that surveillance equipment is urgently needed.
