Two N.Y. men face charges for stealing 100 bulletproof vests

The Associated Press

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Authorities say two men face federal charges for stealing more than 100 military-style bulletproof vests from a Syracuse-area trucking company.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and the F-B-I are holding a news conference at this hour in suburban Cicero to discuss the arrests.

The vests were stolen from Central Transport International earlier this week by thieves who broke into the business and used its equipment to load the vests into a getaway vehicle.

The military vests were being shipped to a local reserve unit.

Authorities had express concerns that the bulletproof vests could be sold to criminals or to terrorists.
