If you’re an officer like me you probably visit the local convenience store throughout your shift to get a cup of coffee. Do you just park in front of the window and walk right in? If there is a robbery in progress you can quickly become engaged in a surprise gun battle.
The solution is to park away from the big viewing window if at all possible. Then as you walk toward the front door, observe and take note of any cars still parked. Peak inside the store before you enter to assess the situation. If there is a robbery in progress you will stand a better chance of spotting it before entering and properly responding...and surviving.
