BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — A Beaver County Jail correctional officer has been accused of facilitating an assault between two inmates.
According to police reports, officer Brandon G. Delon, 30, of 1315 Lovi Road, New Sewickley Township, approached inmates at the jail on March 13 saying he needed another inmate beat up. One inmate told police he was asked to assault the man because Delon believed he had stolen pornographic photos of his friend’s wife from her phone.
Anthony Checca, 29, an inmate at the jail, assaulted the inmate sometime March 13, according to the report. Another inmate told police that Checca told him Delon was going to “pop the door” during a medication distribution time so that the assault could take place.
The victim needed 12 stitches to his left ear, police said.
Delon also did not notify other correctional officers or his supervisor of the assault after it took place when he knew it had occurred, according to the report.
Delon and Checca, of 810 Allison Drive, Industry, have been charged by the Beaver County Detective Bureau with criminal conspiracy and simple assault. Delon also faces charges of official oppression and obstructing administration of law.
