CHICAGO — A fifth-grade teacher at Healy Elementary School in Chicago was arrested at Six Flags Great America after using his cell phone to record undressed men and boys in a locker room at the Gurnee theme park, police said.

Jaime A. Jimenez, 39, was in the Hurricane Harbor water park Saturday afternoon when he held his cell phone camera under a locker room stall and began taping, police said.

On the other side of the stall, however, was an off-duty Lake County cop, who spotted the phone and confronted Jimenez, police said.

Jimenez ran off, but the 25-year-old cop quickly caught him and turned him over to Gurnee Police.

Investigators found on the phone video footage of “adult and juvenile males in various stages of undress,” police said.

Jimenez told police he was a schoolteacher, and officers from Gurnee and Chicago searched his apartment in the 2200 block of South Canal in Chicago, police said.

There they found other electronic equipment including computers, cameras and other computer media related to the investigation. Several items were taken from the apartment and brought to Lake County for further analysis.

Jimenez was charged with one count of unauthorized video recording and live video transmission, a Class 3 Felony. His bond was set at $20,000 Sunday morning.

He is currently on summer break as a fifth-grade teacher at Healy Elementary, Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond said.

CPS officials have launched an internal investigation to determine if any disciplinary action will be taken against the eight-year CPS employee, Bond said. In addition, she said, “We want to talk to the school to ensure that nothing further has occurred.’'
