LEE COUNTY, Ala. — Around 7:15 Monday morning, a 9-1-1 call was made to the Lee County Sheriff’s office from inside the home on Lee Road 574.
Forty-two-year-old Edward McGuire told the dispatcher his wife has just shot him in the stomach.
“He stated he had been shot by Candy McGuire, his wife, and that she had left the residence,” said Sheriff Jay Jones.
A few hours later, at the urging of her family, 33-year old Candy McGuire turned herself in to detectives.
Sheriff Tommy Boswell tells News Leader 9 McGuire is a Russell County Corrections officer, and has been a good employee for the seven months she has worked there.
Sheriff Boswell says McGuire will be placed on administrative leave if charges are filed.
