Monmouth County jail gets first female lieutenant

As lieutenant, she will serve as watch commander overseeing operations at the facility

FREEHOLD, NJ — Susan Stephenson has the honor of becoming Monmouth County Jail’s first female lieutenant after 19 years of service.

NJ.com reports that Stephenson has worked at the facility since 1995, and has worked in all areas of the facility.

She was promoted to sergeant in 2010 and became the institution’s supervisor of accreditation in 2011, where she was responsible for maintaining the facility’s Four Star Accreditation. She was awarded the Accreditation Team Excellence Award in 2013.

Stephenson currently serves as the second vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 30 Monmouth County Superior Officers and also dedicates her time to the RAINE Foundation, which helps struggling families throughout the Bayshore area of Monmouth county.
