WEDOWEE — Randolph County Commission heard a positive report on the Community Corrections program during its Feb. 10 meeting from the director, Becky Farmer.

Since its inception last spring, the program has grown to having 27 participants. Only three have been revoked and sent back to prison, while three have completed the program. There are 22 men and five women. Twenty have jobs, five are disabled and the rest are job hunting. One is in rehab. The participants are also working on community service projects, such as a nature trail at a school and cleaning the soup kitchen in Roanoke. Farmer said she wants to make them vested in the community, and work is important. They are current with their child support payments. Most are between 22 and 30.

“I’m proud we have them working,” said Commission Chairman Richard Fetner.
