TOPEKA, Kan. — More than 22 tons of weight was lost during the Governor’s Weight Loss Challenge. Gov. Sam Brownback, Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and KDHE Secretary Bob Moser celebrated the more than 5-thousand kansans who participated on Tuesday. They also recognized first place finishers, ‘Wolf Pack’ from the Kansas Dept. of Corrections and second place finishers, ‘Ft. Scott Finishers’ from the Kansas Dept. of Transportation.
“Everyone who completed the weight loss challenge is to be commended, and I’m glad to say that the State of Kansas and local leaders are setting a positive example in the fight against obesity,” said Gov. Brownback.
“Congratulations to ‘Wolf Pack’ and ‘Ft. Scott Finishers’ for their tremendous success. Now we all have to commit to upholding these healthy habits.” For their hard work, the ‘Wolf Pack’ earned a total of $5,000. They had a total weight loss percentage of 19.02% or 264.5 pounds.
