WOODSTOCK, Ill. — A McHenry County Jail inmate picked up another charge after he allegedly flushed a blanket down a toilet, causing flooding.
Brian C. Hernandez, 23, of Lake in the Hills, was charged with criminal damage to government-supported property.
On Thursday, Hernandez flushed the blanket down his cell toilet, according to court documents. The blanket got stuck in the plumbing system, flooding his housing section as well as a sergeant’s office a floor below.
Four ceiling tiles were damaged, as well as a ballast in the lighting system.
Hernandez was serving a 90-day sentence after pleading guilty last month to theft for stealing a relative’s computer. His next court date on the new charge is Wednesday.
