BOSTON — One of the men convicted in connection with the fatal shootings of four youths in a Boston home nearly six years ago has apparently killed himself in his prison cell.
Prison officials say 24-year-old Robert Turner was found hanging by a bed sheet in his cell at the maximum security Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley on Thursday by a guard delivering lunch. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is scheduled but a spokesman for the district attorney is calling Turner’s death an “apparent suicide.”
Turner was serving a 13-year sentence for being convicted of being an accessory after the fact in the December 2005 slayings of three rappers and their friend in a makeshift recording studio in the basement of a Dorchester home.
