GRANITE, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite remains under lockdown today following a deadly fight that left two inmates dead and at least 12 injured.

Department of Corrections spokesman Jerry Massie says authorities are searching the prison today for weapons and any other contraband.

Massie says authorities “have a good idea” of what caused the fight but wouldn’t say what that might be. He says investigators are still working on a possible criminal case to turn over to District Attorney John Wampler.

Massie says fights broke out about 12:30 yesterday afternoon in recreation yards and was over in about five minutes.

There are about 800 medium-security inmates at the prison in southwestern Oklahoma and another 200 minimum-security inmates in a separate facility outside the walls of the prison.
