OREGON CITY, Ore. — The Clackamas County Jail was locked down this morning, after an inmate refused deputies’ orders to leave his cell and take a shower.
No injuries were reported.
Lt. Lee Eby, a member of the jail’s command staff, said an inmate with mental health issues refused to eat and then covered himself in feces around 8 a.m. He then refused to leave his cell.
Eby said members of the jail’s Corrections Emergency Response Team used pepper spray to subdue the man, who was examined by the jail’s medical staff and placed in counseling.
