STILLWATER, Okla. — A Cimarron Correctional Facility inmate was sentenced to two additional years after stabbing a correctional officer with a handmade weapon.

1600Kush reports that Aaron E. Eyob was transferred from the facility to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary after the attack.

Eyob attacked the office during a head count, while the officer was opening doors for inmates to throw out their laundry.

The officer reported that after he opened Eyob’s cell door, Eyob just stood in the door staring at him. He then attacked the officer with the handmade weapon before the officer could close the door.

The officer reported that Eyob continuously yelled expletives throughout the attack, including “f*** you.”

The officer received multiple lacerations to his head, neck and right arm, and ended up needing four stitches on the left side of his head. He also required an additional 11 stitches on the right side of his head.

Eyob told investigators that he had no issue with the officer personally, but did claim that he had dementia.

He had reportedly stopped taking medication because “it was making him feel weird and causing him to lose weight.” It’s unclear how he obtained the contraband weapon, but did say he had it in his cell for two weeks prior to the attack.

Eyob is serving a 5-year sentence for possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. That sentence is to be followed by 10 years of probation, after which he will serve the two year sentence for the attack.

Eyob previously served two years for second-degree burglary and grand larceny in 2009.
