BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Even though he was restrained with shackles, inmate David Hernandez was seen making scratching motions to his neck and wrist during a Kern County Superior Court visit for sentencing.

ABC News reports that he kicked at officers when they attempted to approach him, noting blood coming from his wrist and neck area.

Later they found a small razor lying on the floor. Medical assistance was requested and Hernandez was transported to Kern Medical Center.

He is now back in custody at the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
