COLDWATER, Mich. — Staff at the Lakland Prison in Coldwater intercepted a football being passed to inmates by two Detroit area residents.
According to The Daily Reporter, police investigators have requested charges of conspiracy and smuggling contraband into prison against Shirley Curry and Cushman Wallace, who were caught outside the fence after a football filled with contraband was thrown over the razor wire security fence around 7 p.m.
The football contained several cell phones, tobaccoo and various illegal drugs.
Wallace was recently paroled from Lakeland on January 7 on a 2003 sentence for armed robbery. MSP had received a tip about the attempted smuggle and were waiting for the pair.
