BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Former training officer Belinda Keith pleaded guilty to charges of bribery and introducing contraband into federal prisons.

Authorities say Keith admitted that between October 2010 and October 2011 she accepted bribes from an inmate, according to The Republic, to bring tobacco products into the Federal Corrections Institution in Talladega.

She brought in 31 bags of tobacco in exchange for between $2,500 and $4,000. Keith communicated by cell phone and text message with relatives of the inmate to coordinate payments.
