VIGO COUNTY, Ind. — Last year, over 2,500 cell phones were confiscated inside 20 correctional facilities in the Hoosier state. To up their game, the DOC is now adding K-9 cell dogs to more facilites across the state.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department has had K-9s for some time already; two more cell phone sniffing dogs have been trained at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, according to WIBQFM.
The program trains a handler and a K-9 in personal, vehicle and property searches.
